I love country music, and this song, My Maria by Brooks & Dunn is one of my favorites.  I hope you enjoy reading it, as much as I enjoyed writing it.

My Maria
Don't you know I've come from far away
I been longing to spank her
But when she's around she takes my shoes away
Sweet Maria, the paddle surely stings your bum
I'm a lonely spanker, but soon your bum will be numb

Maria, Maria I spank you

My Maria, there were some black and blue spots
Just thinkin' about you brings back my itchy palm
Bratty lady, you're a piece of work
You set my hand free, you can't stop bratting me
She is the sunlight when skies are grey
She's a lot to handle, but don't take her away

My Maria
Maria I spank you
My Maria
Maria I spank you

My Maria
Maria I spank you

I personally LOVED this one!!! :) of course that might because my name in Spanish is Maria and because the words of this one are so very close to a song that is sung to me by someone I love so very much. Because of those things this parody struck a very familiar and loving cord in me. I also am a huge fan of country music as well and think the original song is wonderful.

This was a clever little piece that does a nice job of making the rhymes work.  My favorite line reads "You set my hand free, you can't stop bratting me."  That made me smile and gives a clear picture of how the narrator feels towards this woman.  He seems to care about her a lot and has a playful attachment to her.

"soon your bum will be numb."  Does this really happen?  I guess I haven't ever been spanked that hard.  I think that maybe I'd like to try it.

I haven't heard the original song before, but this piece does make me want to go find it.  It seems like it'd be a fun song because this parity has a sweet and light-hearted tone that I imagine reflects the original's sound.

This is a clever enough parody given what the author had to work with, a song with rather limited lyrics and a simple refrain. I like the original song, although I'd consider it as *country rock* more than strictly *country,* as I've heard it played on radio stations that are the classic rock type.

It's a good song parody although somewhat restricted by the simplicity of the song it's satirizing.

This was a song I'd never heard of before, so I went in search of the lyrics and video on youtube.  I hesitate to damn by faint praise… the song was ok, as was the parody.

It struck me that the parody was awkwardly contrived in parts 'take my shoes away' for 'take my blues away' and there was one line lifted straight from the song.
